Field Trip Grants for 2013-2014
Looking for some funding to assist in providing students with an out-of-classroom experience to enhance their curriculum? Interested in taking your students on a field trip to encourage their interest in health careers? Southwest Indiana AHEC has funding available to assist schools in our region with the cost of field trips related to our goal of engaging youth in health careers.
Schools in the following counties may apply: Daviess, Dubois, Gibson, Knox, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh, and Warrick. The online applications are available here and will be accepted until April 30, 2014. After completing the form, please submit using the button at the end of the application. You will be notified of our receipt of your application. Funding decisions will be made within 10 business days, and applicants will be notified of the decision via email.
For those schools that receive funding, the funding will be reimbursement-based. The school will need to submit an itemized invoice for the approved field trip expenses to the University of Southern Indiana – Southwest Indiana AHEC within 45 days of the field trip. SOUTHWEST INDIANA AHEC MINI-GRANT RFP RELEASED!
Southwest Indiana Area Health Education Center (SWI-AHEC) announces its 2013-14 Mini-Grant Program Request for Proposals. Guidelines and application instructions are available here. The deadline for submitted applications is December 4, 2013, by 4:30pm (Central Time).
SWI-AHEC is seeking applications for projects in Daviess, Dubois, Gibson, Knox, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh, and/or Warrick Counties in the following programming areas:
1. Engaging youth (K-12) in health careers through education and promotion (health career awareness experiences, field trips, camps, etc.);
2. Creating targeted clinical experiences for students in health professions programs (clinical rotations, outreach programs, interprofessional education experiences, and service learning); and
3. Developing continuing education programs for health professionals (interprofessional education opportunities, conferences, workshops, and professional development).

FIELD TRIP AWARDS COMING SOON – NEW FOR 2013-2014!
In addition to our mini-grant program, we will also be offering the opportunity for K-12 schools in our counties to apply (through an expedited process) for financial assistance for field trips. The field trips need to fall within our mission, but this funding should help some schools enhance the educational experience of students interested in health professions. The guidelines and application process will be announced prior to November 28th, so please check back.
