Purpose
of USIANS
The University of Southern Indiana Association of Nursing Students
(USIANS) is a local chapter of the Indiana Association of Nursing Students
(IANS), which is a state chapter of the National Student Nurses’
Association (NSNA). We are a student organization run by student nurses.
Since our chapter is a part of NSNA, we support the NSNA mission which
is to:
“organize, represent and mentor students preparing for initial licensure
as registered nurses, as well as those enrolled in baccalaureate completion
programs; convey the standards and ethics of the nursing profession; promote
development of the skills that students will need as responsible and accountable
members of the nursing profession; advocate for high quality health care;
advocate for and contribute to advances in nursing education; and develop
nursing students who are prepared to lead the profession in the future.
”
All
nursing students are members of USIANS as the membership dues are included
in students' tuition.
