What is SADHA?

SADHA (Student Member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association)

Student Member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, or SADHA, is a category of membership within the American Dental Hygienists’ Association. ADHA is an association dedicated to the advancement and promotion of dental hygiene. ADHA is the association of your profession.

You have taken a significant step in your future and have chosen to enter an important role in the oral health care profession. Whether you have just started school, or are close to graduation, SADHA is your critical link to the dental hygiene profession.

You are the primary driving force in your association and the essential foundation upon which the future of dental hygiene is based.

ADHA Institute for Oral Health Scholarship and Grant Programs

 

Scholarship Program

The ADHA Institute scholarship program exists primarily to help qualified students in their second-year or above of dental hygiene school meet their financial aid needs. While further information can be found on the scholarship section of this site, annual scholarships, with a limit of $2,000, are distributed in the fall of each year to an average of 60 - 80 students (dependent on annual funding). Eligibility requirements differ with each scholarship, although the deadline for all applications is June 30.

 

Grant Programs

Research Grant Program
The ADHA Institute Research Grant Program is a competition designed to offer funding for student and professional dental hygiene research projects. With grants awarded each spring/summer, the competition begins with an application deadline date of January 30. For further information, visit the Grants section of the website.

Rosie Wall Community Spirit Grant Program
Named in honor of a prominent dental hygienist from the state of Hawaii, the ADHA Institute for Oral Health Rosie Wall Community Spirit Grant is a grant that showcases individuals who are involved in specific community health or research projects. Funding for the award is limited to $1,000 - $3,000 per recipient, and applications are due on February 28.

Institute Fellowship Grant Program
ADHA Institute Fellowship Grants are designed to provide financial support for dental hygiene faculty members pursuing either a master's degree in dental hygiene education or doctoral work. Annual awards are provided in order to help fund faculty research in dental hygiene. Applications for fellowship awards are due June 30.
