Online Test FAQ's

Here is a list of the most commonly asked questions and answers concerning Blackboard formatted tests. If you have a question that you don't see here please email it to the exam administrator

If it is time for me to take the test and I don't see the link, what should I do?
You will need to reload/refresh your browser. Each browser has their own method of updating to the most current page. For instance, Netscape Navigator users will need to just click on the RELOAD button in the Menu bar and Internet Explorer users will click on REFRESH in the same location.

In a Blackboard formatted test there will be a notice in the Announcements section of the course site and the link will usually be placed in the Course Documents section. If it is time to take the test but you don't see a link, click RELOAD or REFRESH and if you still don't see a link, contact your instructor.

If I can't take the test at the time the instructor has scheduled it, what should I do?
You will need to contact your instructor and arrange a make-up time. The exam administrator is not responsible for scheduling make-up tests.

What time zone are the test times in?
All test times are CST (Central Standard Time). Depending on where you live, you may be in a different time zone. If you live in a different time zone please coordinate your area's time with the exam time so you will not be too early or too late in taking the test.

If I am disconnected by my internet provider while I'm taking the test, what should I do?

If you are taking a Blackboard formatted test you will need to contact your instructor who will then clear your previous test attempt allowing you to go back and take the test again.

Who can I contact for technical assistance during the exam?

On a Blackboard formatted test there will be a contact number at the beginning of the test in the INSTRUCTIONS area.

What happens if I get disconnected from the exam and the exam link is deactivated when I return to the course page?

In a Blackboard formatted test your instructor is the only one that can clear your previous attempt and allow you to retake the test or reset the link.

Will points be deducted from my exam if I log in repeatedly to the exam because of internet problems and go over the time limit?
You will need to contact your instructor with any time limit or grading issues.

What do I do when I don't get a verification page after I clicked on the "Submit" button to send my exam answers?

You would need to contact the exam administrator by phone or email. This is an example of where writing your answers down as you go along is important. The administrator will check the database to see if your answers came through. If not, you may be asked to either log back in to the test and re-enter your answers or email them to your instructor or the exam administrator.

If taking a Blackboard formatted test contact your instructor if you are unsure if your answers were received.
