		Online Test Assistance Blackboard format

Online exams give students the opportunity to take course exams at a location convenient to the student. Here is a quick tutorial explaining what a student will encounter during an online test using BlackBoard testing. A list of several common question and answers about online tests can be found on the Online Test FAQ page. If you have any other questions/comments about this tutorial or the online test process please contact the exam administrator.

	1. The instructor will place a notice in the ANNOUNCEMENTS section of the BlackBoard course for any upcoming online exams. This will tell you the date, time of day, and any other pertinent information concerning the test.

	2. The link for the online test will appear in the COURSE DOCUMENTS section of the instructor's BlackBoard course page (unless told otherwise) at the scheduled starting time. Students must reload or refresh their browser (see arrow at top of image) in order to activate the current page with the link. Remember that in Internet Explorer you will click REFRESH and in Netscape you will click RELOAD.

	3. When you click on the online exam link in BlackBoard a message will pop up in the center of the screen asking you "ARE YOU SURE THAT YOU WANT TO TAKE THIS QUIZ/TEST NOW?." If you are ready to take the exam click "OK," if not, click "CANCEL."

	4. When you click on the online exam link in BlackBoard the test may be password protected. Simply enter the password given to you by your instructor or the test proctor and click "SUBMIT PASSWORD" to proceed.

IMPORTANT DO NOT CLICK THE "BACK"BUTTON ON YOUR BROWSER OR YOU WILL LOSE ANY ANSWERS YOU SELECTED AND YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO LOG BACK INTO THE EXAM!! ALSO, IF YOU ARE DISCONNECTED FROM YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION DURING THE TEST YOU WILL NEED TO CONTACT YOUR INSTRUCTOR TO REGAIN ACCESS TO THE TEST!!!

	5. When you are taking the online test a timer at the bottom of your screen will be displayed showing how much time you have spent so far. You will receive a warning in the middle of your screen (see image #6) when you have one minute remaining to complete the test. At this point click "OK" and finish the remainder of the test.

	7. When you have completed the exam there will be a SUBMIT button that you will need to click to submit your answers. When it is clicked a warning asking you "ARE YOU SURE THAT YOU WANT TO SUBMIT THIS ASSESSMENT NOW" will display in the center of the screen. Click "OK" to submit your answers or click "CANCEL" if you need to go back and review your answers. AFTER A TEST/QUIZ IS SUBMITTED YOU CANNOT GO BACK AND CHANGE YOUR ANSWERS!

	8. When you have completed the test you should make sure ALL of the questions have been answered. If any answers have been left unanswered there will be a screen notifying you which questions need to be answered. At this point the student can click "RETURN" to go back and complete the questions or click "SUBMIT" to go ahead and submit the test. Again, remember you cannot change your answers once you submit your test!

	9. After you click the "SUBMIT" button a results page like this may appear showing your test submit time and the results of your test. Your instructor IS THE ONLY person authorized to release your grade to you.
