Kathleen French, MHA, OTR, Assistant Professor and Fieldwork Coordinator 

Mrs. French graduated in 1985 with her B.S. from the Occupational Therapy Program at Indiana University. After working for several years as an OT in the field of behavioral health and substance abuse Mrs. French accepted the position of manager for the Activities Therapy Department at the Anderson Center of St. John’s in Anderson, IN. During that time she completed her Master’s degree in health administration from Indiana University at IUPUI in Indianapolis (1996).

Before coming to the University of Southern Indiana to teach in the OTA program Mrs. French was the Director of Rehabilitation for Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper Indiana for 8 years. As Director of Rehabilitation Services she managed physical, occupational, speech and audiology services. She oversaw the delivery of services to the inpatients, outpatients, long-term care patients, home care patients, on site at local industry, and through contract arrangements with local nursing homes. 

At Memorial Mrs. French was also responsible for marketing and development of new service lines. Examples include an industry based therapy and injury prevention program and the development of a women’s heath therapy service. As an active member of the hospital team Mrs. French was involved with quality improvement initiatives, implementation of computerized documentation systems and the planning and preparation for JCAHO and SBH surveys.

Currently Mrs. French is in the second of a three year term as the Indiana Representative for the American Occupational Therapy Association’s Representative Assembly.

Mrs. French resides in the St. Philips area in Evansville with her husband Todd and their three children Lauren, Luke, and Audrey. They are parishioners of St. Phillip’s Catholic Church.
