CLINICAL PRACTICE

I practice one day per week as a family nurse practitioner in a family practice primary care office in Evansville.

RESEARCH FOCUS

The focus of my research is health promotion and heart disease prevention in women, using the Transtheoretical Model to guide my work.
Low-income women are my population of interest. I study their perceived barriers to engaging in physical activity for health benefits.

02/05 Co-Investigator for RO3 grant application “Description of Obesity and Depression in NP Practices in the Ohio Valley Primary Care Based Research Network” submitted on 02/16/05. Not funded in 2006.
10/02-12/02 Developed and wrote, in collaboration with a group of nursing faculty, the curriculum portion of a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) federal grant proposal entitled Blended Geriatric NP/CNS Graduate Specialty. The grant received a laudable score but was not funded.
