Personal Bits:
I started my nursing career in Evansville, IN but left the area in 1987 and moved to Murfreesboro, TN.  I returned to this area in the summer of 2002.  I have two sons named Adam and Aaron, a husband named David, and a cat named Dartanion.  Adam is a senior at Purdue University studying Computer Science and Math.  My younger son is a senior at Castle High School.  Adam is a proficient musician on the alto and tenor saxophones.  He has participated in the All-American Marching Band, Concert Band and Jazz Band since his tenure at Purdue.  He also enjoys playing guitar, Japanese anime, watching movies and playing video games.  Aaron is currently on the high school Tennis Team and in the Knight Sensations Show Choir.  He has participated on the high school Track Team, Soccer Team and Bowling Team.  He also enjoys music, plays the drums and loves to sing.  My husband, David, is an electrical engineer with Whirlpool Corporation.  We are members of Northeast Park Baptist Church in Evansville.  David is the Discipleship Training Director there and I serve as the Drama Ministry Director, chairperson of the personnel committee and member of the Youth Council.  Our family loves to travel and experience new things and new people.  We enjoy camping, playing games, reading, white water rafting, trying out new restaurants, musical and theatre performance and movies.

Professional Experiences:
My clinical background has been spent mostly in acute care settings.  I practiced for several years as a clinician on orthopedic/neurological units.  I love nursing and wouldn’t trade my experiences in this profession for any other.  Along the way I found I enjoyed working with elderly clients and became a Gerontological Clinical Specialist working in a joint appointment with a hospital and university.  I always seemed to gravitate toward leadership positions during my career.  I’ve held the positions of Charge Nurse, Nurse Manager, Director and Assistant Vice President.  All these positions were in an acute care hospital setting.  My most recent career move took me to the academic setting at Middle Tennessee State University School of Nursing in Murfreesboro, TN where I taught various nursing courses from 1999 until our move in 2002.  I’ve really enjoyed teaching and the faculty role in general.
