Colleen Walsh came to USI 9 years as a faculty member in the College of Nursing and Health Professions. She came with a great deal of clinical and teaching experience, and she is teaching in the graduate nursing program and also teaches the Anticoagulation Therapy Management Certificate Program and the Lipid Management Therapy Certificate Program.
Colleen received a diploma in nursing from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, her BSN from Regents College, Albany, New York, a master’s degree in adult health/clinical nurse specialist from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, and a post-masters certificate as an acute care nurse practitioner from the University of South Alabama.
She has extensive experience in orthopaedic and trauma nursing and is a certified orthopaedic nurse, clinical specialist, and is certified as an acute care nurse practitioner. She has worked in various regions of the country, and most recently worked at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where she was on the graduate faculty teaching in the adult nurse practitioner program.

Colleen has been actively involved in the design and implementation of the new Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program at USI. She is also a faculty member for Barkley and Associates Certification Review Company and teaches components of the acute care nurse practitioner certification examination preparation course.
