Academic and Professional
I have worked in many areas of nursing
including a small rural hospital, an acute psychiatric unit, medical
surgical
units, and ICU units. I have taught nursing in several different
baccalaureate programs. My most interesting experience was teaching a course in an
outreach program at a small town near the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. I have
practiced nursing in several states including Iowa, Minnesota, and
South Dakota before moving to Evansville. After moving to Evansville, I
worked as an assistant nurse manager and staff nurse on a busy medical unit at
St. Mary's Medical Center, and I taught nursing at the University of
Evansville before coming to USI. I am currently a doctoral candidate in nursing at
Saint Louis University. I am collecting data for my dissertation which
is a phenomenologic study of the day to day experience of living with
inflammatory bowel disease.
