FIMR is a review process which includes data collection about fetal and infant mortality from a variety of sources.
FIMR is a system that allows us to comprehensively examine existing problems which affect mortality in our region.

Definitions Fetal Death-death prior to birth occurring at or after 20 weeks gestation (Indiana). Infant Mortality-the infant mortality rate is the number of deaths of infants greater that 20 weeks gestation and under one year of age per 1000 live births in a given population. Infant Mortality Rate- deaths of infants (under 1 year)/live births x 1000 Live Birth- infant born with any sign of life ie. respiration, heartbeat, pulsating umbilical cord Neonatal Mortality- death of a liveborn infant before the infant becomes 28 days old SIDS- the unexpected and unexplained death of an apparently well infant |
