
Welcome to the Case Management Continuing Education Certification Program offered by the University of Southern Indiana.Case managers are assuming greater responsibility for coordinating quality, comprehensive, cost-effective health care. The Case Management Continuing Education Certificate Program offers case management education and networking opportunities to health care professionals through the use of the Internet and other distance education modalities.
The purpose of this certificate program is to offer health care professionals serving in a case management or similar role the opportunity to increase their case management knowledge and expertise in caring for clients in today's health care environment.
At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:
The program will incorporate instructor assignments, web resources, and instructor feedback to augment the teaching process. Through the use of the Internet, the program provides you flexibility to complete the program in your own home and network with experts in the field while maintaining your current employment responsibilities.
Content in the Case Management Continuing Education Certificate Program is
divided into six modules. Each module has several units that focus on specific
principles of case management. The program includes the following modules and
units.

Each unit outlines the required assignments and due dates. Assignments can be submitted to instructors through e-mail. You will also participate in a Listserv, a type of e-mail where messages are sent for other class members and faculty to view. The Listserv is used as an asynchronous tool to create discussion sessions between participants, faculty and experts.

Upon completion of each module, a 10 mutiple choice question self test has been developed. The questions will be very similar to the questions on the final exam. Upon completion of the self test, you can review the answers and rationale.
The National Case Management Advisory Board serve as the program reviewers. In additional to providing current updates on case management, members of the board will answer your questions through a Listserv conferencing system.
To assist you with the design of this program, we have developed a study and test taking review. This review consists of three mini-sessions that will cover the highlights of participating in an Internet program, study skills and test-taking tips.
After completion of all of the modules, a comprehensive exam will be administered. The exam will consist of 100 multiple choice questions testing content presented in each of the six modules. A passing score of 75% must be achieved to complete the certificate program. The exam is taken electronically through the Internet site. Instructions will be provided by the program manager during the course.
Upon completion of all assignments, passing a comprehensive exam, and completing a program evaluation, a certificate of completion of the continuing education program will be awarded. Nurses will receive 48 continuing education contact hours. The Indiana State Nurses Association (ISNA) has approved the University of Southern Indiana as a provider of continuing education in nursing. The Commission on Accreditation of the American Nurses Association Credentialing Center accredits the ISNA as a provider of continuing education on nursing.
Social Workers will receive 40 CEU's. The University of Southern Indiana has been approved as a provider of continuing education. Application has been made for 40 CCM clock hours from the Commission for Case Manager Certification (CCM).
Certified Case Managers will receive 40 clock hours from the Commission for Case Manager Certification (CCM).
