
The University of Southern Indiana offers a two-year program in respiratory therapy, culminating in an Associate of Science degree. All general education courses and most respiratory therapy didactic courses are given at the University campus. Clinical training is provided at Deaconess Hospital, St. Mary's Medical Center, Welborn Baptist Hospital, and HealthSouth Tri-State Rehabilitation Hospital under qualified medical supervision. The combination of academic work, clinical rotations, and physician contact provides the student with an intense preparation necessary for an exciting, rewarding career as a respiratory therapist.
Enrollment is limited and applications to the program should be submitted before April 1 of the year the applicant desires entrance into the program. Applicants may secure the necessary information and application blanks by contacting the Director of the Respiratory Therapy Program.
Accreditation
The program is approved by the Committee on
Accreditation
for Respiratory Care and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied
Health
Education Programs. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the
examinations
(entry-level and registry) given by the National Board for Respiratory
Care and upon passing become Registered Respiratory Therapists (R.R.T.).
