The University of Southern Indiana provides course work in Diagnostic Medical Sonography for healthcare professionals interested in enhancing their careers. The three specialty tracks offered include: general, vascular, and cardiac sonography. Each specialty track curriculum includes didactic courses in conjunction with clinical practice. The clinical practice course requirements will be satisfied as part of the students’ paid cross training through their employers. DMS course work can be completed via distance education (Internet) if desired. Completion of one specialty track, documentation of graduation of a two year allied health degree and documentation of current allied health licensure will enable the student to sit for the national registration examination administered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Classes in each specialty track can be applied towards completion of the Bachelor of Science degree in Radiologic and Imaging Science at USI.
