In order to be considered for admission to the dental hygiene program,
students must complete the following requirements:
- Acceptance to the University of Southern Indiana.
- Dental Hygiene applications will not be considered
for admission until the student has applied and been accepted to
the University.
- Completion of Prerequisite courses with a
minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.8 (4.0 scale).
- Students are considered for admission into
the Dental Hygiene Program based on the cumulative grade point average
in the required prerequisite courses.
- All prerequisite courses must be completed
with a grade of C or higher
- All prerequisite courses must be completed
prior to beginning the Dental Hygiene Professional curriculum
- The following prerequisites must
be completed by the end of the spring semester in the calendar
year the student desires admission to the program:
- CHEM 141: Principles of Chemistry
- BIOL 121: Anatomy and Physiology I
- BIOL 122: Anatomy and Physiology II
- BIOL 272: Medical Microbiology
- HP 115: Medical Terminology
- HP 325: Pharmacology
- HP 302: Biostatistics
- NUTR 376: Nutrition
- MATH 111: College Algebra
- Candidates for admission must be in good health,
eligible for dental hygiene licensure, and capable of fulfilling clinical
practice requirements.
